HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to pull away from Concord College, 85-67, to pick up their first win of the season on Friday night at the LMU Classic in Harrogate, Tenn.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-1 on the season.

C-N trailed 42-28 at the break, but tore off a 32-point advantage in the second half to run away from the Mountain Lions.

Junior Tray Okoth led the eagles with 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He also made 9-of-11 free throws.

Senior Jordan Dixon and junior J.J. Wesley each added 17. Wesley was 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Senior forward Darron Maxtion added 14 and sophomore transfer Quinche Dowdell added 11.

The Eagles opened the second half on a 19-7 run to quickly erase the Concord lead. Dixon and Wesley opened the half with back-to-back three-pointers to start the run.

C-N grabbed the lead for good on a dunk by Brandon Evans at the 10:43 mark. It also took care of business at the free throw line in the second half, connecting on 19-of-24 free throws to keep Concord at bay.

C-N returns to action with two games in the next three days. The Eagles face Hiawasse on Saturday at the LMU Classic. They hold their season’s home opener on Monday night against the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
