Kim-Moss finishes tied for third, Eagles place fifth in the final at TVA Community Credit Union Invitational

KILLEN, Ala. - Carson-Newman was led by Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) who shot a 1-over par 73 and finished in a tied for third along with Lander University's Greg McCullough. The Eagles fired a team score of 298 in round three, finishing in fifth place.

 "Jonathan played very well to finish tied for third," head men's golf coach John Minor said. "Throughout the whole tournament Jonathan has played his game and I see him moving to a higher spot in the next tournament."

 First place team University of North Alabama had a three round score of 860 (293-285-282), putting the Eagles 30 strokes behind for the event.

 Minor was pleased with his teams overall progression throughout this three-round invitational.

 " We held our own today and I am  pleased with our teams overall progression throughout this three-round invitational," Minor said,

 Senior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) finished in a tie for ninth at 217 (+1). He shot a 71 for the first two rounds and was 4-over for round three.

 "Gavin also played a great tournament and showed that individually he will continue to advance farther in his playing as our year goes on," Minor said.

 Junior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.)  climbed to 31st after shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round, while senior Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) finished 6-over par placing him at 62nd.

 Freshman Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shot 77 (+5) in the final round and closed the day tied for 73rd.

 "Jackson and Hodge played a much better rounds this tournament and they continue to show improvement each time they play," Minor said.

 As a team, the Eagles shot an even par Monday and finished 10-over in the final round of the event.

 "We are getting better, we have one more tournament this fall to help us move to higher position as well as help us to improve a little more before our spring season starts," Minor said.

 The Eagles will play their last fall tournament in Winter Park, Fla., at the Rollins Invitational which begins on October 29.
