The Eagles shot a 311 for the first 18 holes, but bounced back to shoot a 293 in the second round – the second best tally for the day - to finish day 19 strokes behind first place team Nova Southeastern University (585) and 21 strokes behind second place team Lynn University.
Head coach John Minor realized his team had a rough start, but continued to battle through adverse weather conditions to play a great second round.
"We had another difficult start where we didn't begin the day like we wanted, but we ended the day strong in the later part of the day," Minor said.
Junior Johnathan Kim-Moss (Mississaugua, Canada), who is tied in fourth place, shot 77 (+5) for round one. However the junior came back with the best round of the tournament the second time through, firing a four-under 68. Kim-Moss is one stroke off leader Ben Taylor from Nova Southeastern University.
Senior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) also improved from morning to afternoon shooting 76 (+4) in round one and ending round two with a solid two-under 70.
"Both Johnathan and Gavin played great today and have a chance to win individually tomorrow," Minor said.
Junior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge Tenn.) shot scores of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) for the day, which tied him for 35th.
Senior Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) tied for 85th after an 82 (+10) in round one and 80 (+8) to finish the day in round two, while Freshman Ty Talley (Dandridge, Tenn.) is tied for 91st after shooting and 83 (+11) and 84 (+12) for day one.
"This tournament is filled with very strong nationally ranked teams," Minor said, "We have a great opportunity tomorrow and are excited to finish the season on high note."
The Eagles will play Tuesday to finish up their tournament and season with 18 holes.
