Eagles finish eleventh at McDonough Cup

 ORLANDO, Fla. - Carson-Newman's men's golf team finished in 11th place after completing day two and round three of the McDonough Cup at the  Rio Pinar Golf Club. The Eagles ended the day with a score of 314.

Junior Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) tied for 10th. He finished the day with a score of 76 (+4) giving him a three round total score of 221.

"Today was a very windy day, but Jonathan hung in there and continued to play for a great performance," Head Coach John Minor said.

Senior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) shot a 79 (+7) to end his day, tying him for 23rd, while junior Rafael Jackson (Rutledge, Tenn.) tied for 54th after shooting an 82 (+10) for round three.

Senior Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) shot his best round of the tournament with a 77 (+5). The finish catapulted him up six places to tie him at 79th.

Freshman Ty Talley (Dandridge, Tenn.) ended the day with a score 89 (+17) putting him 93rd.

 Lynn University won the tournament by three strokes ahead of second place team Nova Southeastern University with an 877.

Minor said he believes his team is better than what they played today and is beginning to look toward their season in the spring.

"We know what we need to work on and know what we need to do now to get ready for the spring," Minor said.

The tournament ends the Eagle's fall schedule. They will return to the course spring 2013.
