Of the 30 names on the list, nine were either head or assistant coaches at the Division II with three hailing from the SAC. Burstrom joined Wingate assistant Katelyn Grisillo and Anderson assistant Nicole Razor on the list.

A decorated player in her own right at Carson-Newman from 2012-16, Burstrom became the fifth player at the time in program history to earn postseason plaudits from the league in three seasons. The Maryville, Tenn. native wrapped up her career fourth in SAC history with 254 made three-pointers. The program's leader in made triples concluded her four years with 1,234 points, good for ninth in C-N history at the time. She scored in double figures 64 times in her four seasons while leading the team in scoring in 30 games and making three three-pointers on 43 occasions.

The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game.
