FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Carson-Newman head women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick is 11 strokes off the lead and in a tie for 28th place at the inaugural LPGA Legends Tour's Senior LPGA Championship at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Ind.

Strudwick shot a six-over 78 for round one of the event.  She'll be back on the course Tuesday afternoon for the middle round of the three-day event, which is being televised on the Golf Channel.

Strudwick, the 1993 LPGA Rookie of the Year, last played a full tournament schedule in 2004.  She has two professional tournament wins to her name, the Open de France Dames in 1989 and the AGF Ladies' Open in 1991.

Strudwick went three-over on both the front and back nines, with a sextet of bogeys exclusively on par fours.  She shot even par on all par fives and all par threes.

The Eagles' mentor hit 6-of-14 fairways.  She made it to the green in regulation eight times. \

Britain's Trish Johnson is running away from the field.  She shot a five-under, 67 in round one and has a four-stroke lead over the United States Carolyn Hill.  A total of 81 golfers are competing in the event.

Strudwick is back on the course at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday.  Action can be viewed on the Golf Channel.
