JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Freshman Kennadi King (Marietta, Ga.) has been named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Female Swimmer of the Week after her wondrous performance in C-N's dual-meet against Mars Hill on Jan. 16th in Jefferson City, Tenn.

King won the women's 200-yd freestyle in a time of 1:55.68, women's 100-yd freestyle in 52.83 and was a member of the Eagles relay teams. In the women's 400-yd freestyle relay, King guided C-N team 'A' to a second-place victory with a time of 3:39.60 while anchoring the 200-yd medley relay team who finished second with a time of 1:47.32.

"It's very exciting because it shows we've been working hard and thus, being named Conference Swimmer of the Week shows your hard work paying off," King said. "The whole team has been working pretty hard and the coaches have made sure we're doing the small things: eating and sleeping. Hopefully this will help us get to where we want to be and support our teammates along the way."

King and the Eagles showed the product of their preparation for their first meet in 2021 as they came away with a 205-50 team victory, which was a small part of the Eagles 408-92 total team victroy over the Lions. This meet marked the first time the Eagles saw home action since losing to the Wingate Bulldogs on Nov. 14, their first loss in 755 days.

It is the first time in King's career that she has received the honor, and first for the C-N women's team since CJ Jensen won Swimmer of the Week after the Wingate meet. King and the Eagles now look forward to competing in the fifth annual Blue v. Orange intrasquad competition on Friday Jan. 22 before hosting the Emmanuel College Lions on Jan. 30th inside the MSAC.

"I feel like the intrasquad meet will be a ton of fun," King said. "It will get up and ready to compete as we continue working hard and getting better. Hopefully, Friday will help the team get some more fast times and do well as we continue our season."

Be sure to keep up with the Eagles swim team all season long on cneagles.com and on all of C-N's social media platforms.
