Carson-Newman Women's Swimming brings home victory from first regular season meet against Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va.- Carson-Newman women's swim brings home the win from the first regular season meet at Emory & Henry.

Carson-Newman swim competed in a total of 22 events earlier this afternoon in Emory, Va. against the Wasps. The women raced in 11 of those events and took home a victory with a final score of 158-45.

The women's team placed first in 10 out of 11 events throughout the evening.

The Eagles swept the podium in three events including the 100 SC meter backstroke, 400 SC meter freestyle, and the 100 SC meter breaststroke.

In the 100 SC meter backstroke, Kyla Blakemore won with a time 1:05.17, while Natalia Amano finished closely behind in second with a time of 1:08.81. In third for the event was Kylie Cutcher at 1:13.30.

Rachel Peden placed first in 400 SC meter freestyle racing a time of 4:40.87, while teammates Linda Ungerboeck (4:41.92) and Maria Tirulli (5:01.81) followed behind to complete the top-three in the event.

In the 100 SC meter breaststroke, Breanna Belcher claimed first at 1:16.63. Antonia Sanint placed second with 1:18.07, and Mandi Chadwell finished third at 1:21.17.

The first event of the night was the 200 SC meter medley relay. One Carson-Newman team including Kyla Blakemore, Breanna Belcher, Manon Compagner, and Lily Parr placed first with a time of 2:00.52. The second group of Eagles with Lillian Hilt, Antonia Sanint, Chrisman Rand, and Kennadi King finished right behind the first with a time of 2:05.40.

This was the Eagles' first conference meet of the 2022-2023 season. They will race again on Oct. 15 when Carson-Newman hosts Milligan in the Maddox Pool.
