JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman swim outpaces Lees-McRae at home.

Carson-Newman swim found success against Lees-McRae with a final score of 286-118. The women put up 151 points, and the men added 135 to the combined team score.

Kyla Blakemore, Breanna Belcher, Manon Compagner, and Kennadi King made a national cut in the women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.79. Blakemore did not stop there as she hit qualifying times in the 200-yard backstroke as well with a finals time of 2:01.33.

"My team got a national cut, which is super exciting. It's something we have been working towards, and we are really excited about that. I swam the 200-yard backstroke individually and got the national cut in that as well, so I'm just super pumped," women's swimmer Kyla Blakemore said.

The women finished first in 10 out of 11 events in the meet and swept the podium in three events including the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly, and 500-yard freestyle.

The men found the podium as well as they finished first in all 11 events throughout the meet. Asger Hartvig placed first in the men's 400-yard IM with a time of 4:18.17. Arthur Gluzman found gold in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.92.

"Asger Hartvig really attacked the 400 IM, and Arthur Gluzman being under 21 for the first time this season is nice to see as well. For us, it's making sure that we take something away from this meet," head swim coach Ben Young said.

Looking forward, the Eagles will race again five days from now as they head to the Tennessee Invitational for a three-day event beginning Nov. 17. The invite will be in Knoxville, Tenn.

"We are most definitely going to rest, and we are just going to make sure we are carrying on the hard work that everyone has put in throughout the season," men's swimmer Carson Jones said.

After back-to-back wins this weekend, the Eagles will be back in action Nov. 17 at the Tennessee Invitational.
