Team Performance of the Year

Men's Basketball v. Clayton State:  Carson-Newman jumped out of the halftime lockerroom with a 20-0 burst and never looked back in a 108-81 thrashing of Clayton State.  C-N came out of the second half lockerroom and made its first 10 shots while Clayton State missed its first 10 shots to swell the lead to 30 by the under 16 media timeout. Carson-Newman shot 61.1 percent from the field after halftime.  The Eagles finished the game shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from three.  Carson-Newman made 13 threes, its third straight home game with at least 13 made triples.

Volleyball v. Tusculum: Carson-Newman came out on top of the Pioneers after a four set thriller with Tusculum at Holt Fieldhouse. The Eagles dropped the opening set 25-27, but came back to conquer the match in the following three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-11. C-N led their opponents in kills (58-41), digs (76-65), hitting percentage (.220-.110), and service aces (10-1). Three players notched double-doubles on the evening; Julia Wheeler with 10 kills and 11 digs, freshman Blair Cherry with 23 assists and 10 digs, and Carlee Allbaugh with 23 assists and 12 digs.

Football v. Emory & Henry: Carson-Newman opened the game hot and kept the fire raging over the next four quarters Saturday against Emory & Henry. The Eagles dominated in every phase of the game, blowing out the Wasps, 37-7, on Homecoming. As impressive as the offense was, unleashing 472 yards of total offense against Emory & Henry, it was the defense that set the tone from the opening snap for the Eagles. C-N forced a three-and-out in all but two possessions in a shutout first half, limited the Wasps to just 181 yards of total offense, nine first downs and held the No. 2 scoring offense in the SAC, averaging 27.4 points per game, to just a single touchdown.

Football v. UVA Wise: On the first play from scrimmage, Carson-Newman nickelback William Johnson III stepped in front of a pass from University of Virginia-Wise quarterback Jake Corkren, hauled it in and raced the final 16 yards into the end zone. The quick defensive score set the tone for the day as the Eagles obliterated the Highland Cavaliers, 52-7. As for Wise), the defeat was its most lopsided home loss against a SAC opponent since joining the league and their worst as a program since 2016.

Women' Basketball v. #23 Wingate: Taking down a ranked team for the ninth straight season, Mincey's squad did so in dominant fashion with a 93-64 victory. C-N led from start to finish to take down the number 23 team in the country. The Lady Eagles put it away early, leading by 29 points at halftime. The lead grew as large as 42, before a late Bulldogs run made the margin the same as it was at intermission. Carson-Newman won every key statistical category and shot an impressive 50% from the field. Lindsey Taylor (Maryville, Tenn.) and Braelyn Wykle (Greeneville, Tenn.) combined to score 39 points on 17-27 shooting to lead the way.

Women's Basketball v. USC Aiken: Winning each quarter by at least six points, Carson-Newman dismantled USC Aiken 87-47 to wrap up the SAC/PBC challenge. C-N's defense recorded 20 steals with ten different players recording at least one and seven recording multiple. Overall, Carson-Newman forced 27 Pacer turnovers and scored 29 points off those mistakes in the 40-point win. Braelyn Wykle (Greeneville, Tenn.) scored 27 points in just 26 minutes, on 10-18 shooting from the field. She nailed four of C-N's six triples.

Men's Soccer vs West Alabama: Carson-Newman scored twice in three minutes and used stellar defending to defeat future NCAA tournament bound West Alabama in the season opener on Sept 1st. Mitchell Honcoop (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands) and Harry Whitehead (Oxford, England) scored the goals for C-N.The season-opening win saw C-N goalkeeper Federico Simonetti (Crema, Italy) make nine saves to shut out the Tigers. Six of those ten saves came in the first half, with four coming in the opening 20 minutes of action.

Women's Soccer vs North Greenville: Simon Duffy's team erupted for five goals, four in a 21-minute stretch in the second half to defeat North Greenville 5-3 in the season opener. C-N had a response ten minutes later. Sophomore Molly Zander (Baneberry, Tenn.) was fouled inside the box, granting the Eagles a penalty kick. Felicia Frick (Eschen, Lichtenstein) stepped up and buried the penalty to tie the match at a goal apiece. After a quick corner kick, Addie Henry (Chattanooga, Tenn.) found Krista Nielsen (Saudarkrokur, Iceland) who delivered a rocket over top the NGU goalkeeper to level the match once again. Nielsen's equalizer was her first collegiate goal. The next two Eagle goals were also first career collegiate goals as well. Anita Arnadottir (Alfantes, Iceland) sent a cross into the box where the ball found the foot of Alba Delgado (Oviedo, Spain) who booted a shot into the back of the net to give C-N its first lead in the 67th minute. The Eagles would not relinquish that advantage, only add on to it. Freshman Karli Pettitt found herself in the right place at the right time, off a ball from Selina Jud (Wilderswil, Switzerland) to make the score 4-2 Eagles. C-N's fifth and final goal came off another North Greenville foul in the penalty box. Frick stepped up and buried her second penalty kick of the afternoon to make it 5-2.

Men's Soccer vs Young Harris: After allowing a 13th minute goal, Carson-Newman responded with four consecutive goals to storm past Young Harris for 4-1 home opening win.  C-N tied the match in the 18th minute when a pair of 5th year seniors teamed up. Nic Carsh (Newberg, Ore) found Harry Whitehead who blasted a shot into the top right corner of goal to tie the match. It was career goal number 15 for Whitehead and career assist number 11 for Carsh. Carson-Newman put on an offensive and defensive clinic in the second half. Ben Dukes (Southampton, England) made an excellent run forward and dumped a pass over to Paul Csmarich who scored his first career goal, a goal that would serve as the game-winner in the 58th minute. The Eagles were just getting hot offensively. An insurance goal came in the 74th minute when Mitchell Honcoop (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands) found Thomas De Graauw (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) who scored his first goal with C-N. The last goal came in the 84th minute. Young Harris pushed everyone forward for a corner kick and did not recover quick enough. Csmarich and Carsh executed a perfect 2 v 1 and Carsh beat the keeper for his 15th career goal and Csmarich's first career assist.

Women's Golf at the Music City Invite: In Jessica Shepley's first season with the Eagles, her squad faced some trials in the fall. Despite this, the Eagles finished the fall season on an overwhelmingly positive note, finishing 2nd as a team at the Music City Invitational while having the top individual golfer in Hannah Holland. Two other Eagles finished in the top-10, as Ida Petersen finished at 6-over to finish in 5th, and freshman Emery Fisher tied for 9th at 9-over. Freshman Macy Bromley shaved six strokes off of her first round performance to finish tied for 37th and Madison Cline took two strokes off to finish tied for 45th.
