JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – High jumper Danilo Cardoso (Brazil) earned gold in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00m even to highlight the second day of competition at the Buccaneer Invitational.

Falling just a bit shy of his season-best height of 2.06m at the ETSU Invitational a few weeks ago, Cardoso still surpassed the competition. Cardoso attempted to match his season best of 2.06m but came up short all three attempts.

A host of sprinters were able to reach the finals of their respective events, with Toot Johnson (Rincon, Ga.) earning silver in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds and bronze in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.07 seconds.

Johnson's 60 time was identical to his finals appearance at the ETSU Athletics Complex last month during the ETSU Invitational. His 200 time is a new personal best.

Opting to focus on the 200 for this weekend, sprinter Devon Moore (Baxley, Ga.) set the ninth-fastest speed in the sprint Saturday with a mark of 21.47 – a personal best for the indoor portion of the season. The mark provisionally qualifies him for the national championships.

C-N was one of two schools to finish with podium finishes in both the men's 60 and 200. USC Upstate claimed first in both, respectively.

In the women's portion of the 200, sophomore Abby Hegarty was able to earn fifth with a time of 26.05 seconds. In the men's 400-meters, senior Caleb Agee (Floyd, Va.) brought home a fifth-place finish with a time of 51.03 seconds.

Finishing eighth in the finals of the 60, Courtavious Garrett (Greenwood, Fla.) was able to earn a top-10 placement in the men's triple jump with a personal best leap of 13.45m.

With the bulk of the indoor season now complete, the Eagles will have a month to rest and recover for the SAC Indoor Championships at JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. on Feb. 29-March 1.
