VIDEO: Ashley Ingram Interview
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head football coach Ashley Ingram has announced the signing of 38 student athletes who will join the Carson-Newman football program.
Carson-Newman signed six mid-year transfers, one from a four-year institution and five from prep schools, who join the program in the spring. The other 32 commitments are from high-school players.
The Eagles' 38 signees represent nine states. Tennessee and Georgia are the two most-represented states, with 13 players from the Volunteer State and 11 from the Peach State.
The average GPA of the high-school signees is 3.42.
"What I wanted more than anything out of our signees was character," head football coach Ashley Ingram said. "We wanted to find really good kids, who are really good students who happen to also be really good football players, rather than just chasing talent. I'm proud of the job of our staff did recruiting, and I'm excited about the talent level that does come in here. But what I am most excited about is how wonderful they are as young men who come from great families. They will be young men our campus can be proud of."
C-N brought in 26 players on the offensive side of the ball and 12 on the defensive side. Running backs account for 11 members of the signing class.
