Men's soccer alum Welo, Chattanooga FC to compete in NFSL semifinals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Carson-Newman men's soccer alumnus Sindre Welo will have a chance to snag a spot inthe NPSL national title game when Chattanooga FC takes on the Sonoma County Sol Saturday night in a semifinal matchup.  

Welo helped CFC lay claim to a South Region title last week when he connected on a penalty kick.

A decorate player in the Orange and Blue, Welo earned All-America honors as a senior in 2015 from both the NSCAA and the D2CCA.  With 77 career appearances, he has the most caps of any player in Carson-Newman history.   

He helped clinch a share of the SAC reguar season with a penalty kick against Coker on Oct. 31st.  He finished his career with 28 career goals, which was sixth-most in program history, and seven game-winning goals.

He placed seventh in school history with his 71 career points and is tied with four other Eagles for the school record with three made penalty kicks. 

Kickoff between CFC and SCS is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
