JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – On Thursday and Friday, the Eagles men's and women's soccer teams played host to Dr. Tiffany Jones for the second straight year. Dr. Jones is one of the best and most well-known sports psychologists in the country.

Dr. Jones spent time with both teams and focused on a number of topics with each squad.

"I challenged them," she said. "We did some activities and had some different sessions. They've taken what they learned [last year] and are continuing to build on it. I get to put them under a little more pressure and see how they deal with that pressure both individually, as well as team-wise."

While this is her second consecutive year spending time with the teams, Jones said her sessions with the players were different from last year.

"I didn't have to be so hard on them this time," she said. "I came in and ripped the bandage off last year. Taking risks was a big topic this year. Since the culture is there for both teams now, we can dive into the exercise science and the psychology aspects of their sport."

When it came to taking credit for the success both teams had in 2015, Jones shifted the focus elsewhere.

"I think it just shows what a great job the coaching staff [is doing] with Coach Moodie really focusing on the team cultures and raising the bar for excellence," she said. "I think you had two leader groups that are really focused on the details and on reaching excellence."

Jones has served as a consultant for several schools, including Louisiana State University and Penn State University and is also a consultant for the USA U- 20 Women's National Soccer Team, which captured World Cups in 2008 and 2010. Dr. Jones is also the Owner and President of X-Factor Performance Consulting Group.
