JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Following a postponed South Atlantic Conference opener, Carson-Newman (2-1) dips back into its non-conference slate as it heads to Montgomery, Alabama to take on Auburn Montgomery tomorrow afternoon.

Carson-Newman was supposed to have a SAC match under its belt prior to this meeting, but weather forced the postponement of the Eagles matchup with Anderson.

This begins a stretch where C-N will play five of its final six games of September on the road.

The Eagles have already made one trip to the state of Alabama, when it faced West Alabama and Spring Hill during the first weekend of the regular season. C-N defeated West Alabama 2-0, before falling to the Badgers 1-0, two days later.

C-N has a record of 6-5-1 against teams from the Gulf South Conference under Stephen Lyons.

Nic Carsh (Newberg, Ore), Paul Csmarich (Vienna, Austria), Thomas De Graauw (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) and Mitchell Honcoop (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands) each have a goal and an assist this season. Harry Whitehead is the team's leader in goals with two.

Federico Simonetti (Crema, Italy) is tied for second in the SAC in saves (15) and save percentage at .882.

Carson-Newman and Auburn Montgomery met last season in the middle of October for the first time ever. AUM started the scoring in the 38th minute off a corner kick that found the head of Aristarch Oluwatuyi. The Eagles answered early in the second half, when Daniel McIlroy sent a free kick into the box that was headed on by Eric Schmutzer to level the match at a goal apiece. The Warhawks scored the game-winning goal off another corner kick, with Phillp Spickenbaum heading the ball into the bottom corner of goal. C-N had several chances on frame after the 71st minute goal but came up short, falling 2-1.

In regular season matchups, Auburn Montgomery is riding a seven-match unbeaten streak dating back to the end of the 2022 regular season. AUM ended last season with a semifinal exit in the GSC championships to #11 West Florida.

It knocked off Saint Leo in the season opener 1-0 and has a pair of ties against the University of Tampa and the University of Mobile.

The Warhawks have relied on their strong defense early in 2023. The group has allowed just one goal in three matches. Goalkeeper William Blake has been the main piece in goal, making eight saves in his three appearances.

Charlie Elliot and Frank Kouentchi each have one goal for the Warhawks through three games. Elliot was the team's lone player selected to the preseason All-GSC team. AUM was picked to finish fifth in the Gulf South Conference preseason poll.

The match versus Carson-Newman is the final non-conference match for the Warhawks, but also the final home game before a five-game road stretch to end the month of September.

The match kicks off at 2:00 p.m. A live stream of the match is available at this link:  https://team1sports.com/aumathletics/
