Eagles up one spot to fourth after day two at SAC Women's Golf Championship

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Eagles moved up one spot while Maeve Cummins and Hannah Holland sit in the top-10 following the second round of the SAC Women's Golf Championship.

No. 17/21 Carson-Newman shot a 14-over 302 in the second round, recording a two round total score of a 36-over 612. C-N moved up one spot to fourth-place in the standings, sitting ten strokes behind Wingate for third. 

In the second round, the Eagles had the best score of any team on Par 4s, shooting ten-over and an average score of 4.20. C-N also carded the second-most birdies on the day, recording 11, with four members of the team recording a one-under shot on the tenth hole. The convocation have carded 20 birdies between both rounds. Through two rounds, the Orange and Blue have the second-best score on Par 3s, shooting a score of 15-over and an average score of 3.38. 

No. 5/6 Anderson remains in first-place after the second round by eleven strokes with a total score of a 14-over 590. 

"We improved today for sure, so I like the way we are trending," says Director of Golf Randy Wylie. "We had a solid round and it's good to see Maeve and Hannah in the top-10. We'll need a solid final round to move up the leaderboard into the top-three."

Individually, Cummins moved up one spot to fifth overall after shooting a two-over 74 for the second day in a row. The Waringstown, Northern Ireland native carded the third best score on Par 5s, shooting an average score of 4.50 and shooting two-under on the longest holes at the Hartsville Country Club. Cummins recorded three straight birdies on the ninth, tenth and eleventh holes. The senior has a total score of a four-over 148 after two rounds.

Hannah Holland is up four spots into the top-10 after shooting a three-over 75 in the second round. The Sale Creek, Tenn. native recorded four birdies on the day, the second-most in the field for the second round. Her eight birdies for the entire tournament are tied for the most in the tourrnament so far. Holland shot even-par on Par 4s in the second round, averaging the third-best score on the holes over the tournament, shooting three-over and an average score of 4.15. 

Ellie Haughton is up 14 spots to a tie for 25th after rebounding with a four-over 76 in the second round. The Lincolnshire, England native shot even-par on Par 3s, recording ten pars on the second round. Hauhgton has shot two-over with an average score of 3.25 on the shortest holes in the tournament. She has a total score of a 13-over 157 after two rounds.

Ashley Holland slipped seven spots to a tie for 34th after shooting a ten-over 82 in the second round. The younger Holland sister has recorded a 17-over 161 through two rounds.

Caroline Nemes moved up eleven spots to a tie for 43rd after shooting a five-over 77 in the second round. The freshman from Orlando, Fla. shot an even-par score on Par 4s on the second day of the tournament. Her 12 pars are tied for the third-most from the second round. Nemes has shot an 18-over 162 total score so far in the SAC Championship tournament. 

Jessica Rathbone of Anderson sits in first-place after shooting a three-under 69 in the second round. Rathbone has a three-stroke lead through two rounds with a three-under 141.

The Eagles will wrap up play at the SAC Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday, Apr. 5. Nemes will be the first Eagle on the course at 7:30 A.M., with the rest of the team teeing off after her in nine minute intervals. Fans can follow along with live stats via BirdieFire here.
