Corsato-Owsianka, Reis land on All-SAC teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior Jill Corsato-Owsianka (Düesseldorf, Germany) and freshman Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA.) received All-South Atlantic Conference accolades as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

This marks the third consecutive year that Corsato-Owsianka has been tabbed an All-Conference singles player and her second-straight honorable mention honor.

She closed out her final regular season with a 7-8 record playing at all three of the top singles positions throughout the year, spending most of her time as the top-seeded Eagle with a 3-6 record but finding success at the No. 2 slot with a 4-1 record. She was 4-5 against SAC opponents.

The senior now stands as the winningest Eagle in singles play this decade with a 42-27 record in her career, also giving her the best singles record since 2010 with a .609 winning clip.

She was deemed the SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week back on March 26, making her the first Eagle to receive the honor since Taryn Cappadona on April 13, 2010.

Another first for the program comes with Corsato-Owsianka's All-SAC honor as she is the first C-N women's tennis player to land on both the singles and doubles list in the same group of postseason plaudits.

Corsato-Owsianka and Abby Reis were 8-8 through the regular season, playing mostly at the top spot for a 7-8 record. Their only appearance at the No. 2 spot resulted in a victory against Young Harris' pair of Elin Rundcrantz and Beth Taylor in the season-opener, 8-3.

Their longest winning streak of the season spanned three matches, all against conference opposition. Against the SAC, they were 5-5 in the regular season.
