Three Eagles Selected to All-SAC Preseason Teams

VIDEO: Anita Chornei Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team has earned three all-SAC selections, with Anita Chornei being named to the first-team in singles, Natasha Forrest earning a second-team selection in singles, and Forrest and Summer Reeves named to the first-team in doubles.

In her fourth season with the Eagles, Chornei has accumulated a record of 38-24 in singles play, becoming one of the top contributors for the Eagles. Throughout her career, Chornei credits her success to her work ethic to become one of the key players for C-N.

"I was starting my first semester at the bottom of the lineup," Chornei said. "I had a goal to become number one, and I put in a lot of hard work… it's a big achievement for me."

With other Eagles earning all-conference selections, Chornei appreciates her teammates and knows they've worked hard to get into this position.

"I'm so glad to have all those girls on my team," Chornei said. "I know they are hard workers, and it's nice to work hard with them… they achieved a lot from when they started, and I'm glad for them."

Natasha Forrest joins the all-conference second-team in singles and has tallied an impressive 50-26 record in her time at C-N. Forrest put together an impressive 2023 season, posting a 13-5 record with a 10-3 mark in SAC play. Forrest also impressed in the fall, tallying a 4-3 record in the No. 2 spot.

Forrest's name reappears in the all-conference doubles first-team, joined by teammate Summer Reeves. The pair earns the selection after earning a nationally-ranked win in 2023 and a win against a regionally-ranked opponent. The duo tallied a 3-4 record in the No. 1 spot in the fall and will look to improve on that mark in the spring season.

With multiple all-conference selections, the Eagles have one goal in mind.

"Our main goal is to win the conference," Chornei said. "With a full team, especially the new freshmen, they keep us competitive every practice… we all believe, and we all put hard work in knowing that we can win the conference."

With plenty of talent to compete at a high level, the Eagles will look to do so when North Georgia treks Mossy Creek on February 3rd.
