Eagles Look to get Back on Track with Pair of Weekend Contests

SALISBURY, NC – After a tough loss to Limestone on Sunday, Carson-Newman (2-4, 0-2 SAC) looks to bounce back with two tough weekend contests, heading to Catawba on Friday before returning home to square off with Lee on Sunday.

@Catawba (7-2, 2-0 SAC)

With a 7-2 mark so far this season, the Indians have been successful in the first half of the season. Starting the campaign 1-1, Catawba rattled four straight wins over UVA-Wise, Palm Beach Atlantic, Eckerd, Emory & Henry, and Mount Olive, surrendering just three points over the four matches.

In the five matches, the Indians secured the doubles point in each match, dropping only one doubles match in the five-match win streak. Catawba had similar success in singles play, helping it to surge early in the year.

Most recently, the Indians dropped a close contest to No. 8 North Georgia, 4-3. The Indians have proved to be formidable foes, going toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the nation. Unblemished in conference play, the Eagles will look to make a dent in the Indians' conference mark on Friday afternoon.

Vs. Lee (5-1, 2-1 Gulf South Conference)

C-N and Lee have met 16 times in the programs' history, and the all-time series is tied at eight apiece. The Flames took down the Eagles last season in Cleveland, breaking a two-match losing streak against the Eagles.

The Flames present another challenge to the Eagles, coming out of the gates hot with a 5-1 mark and a 2-1 record in the Gulf South Conference. Lee won its first two matches of the season, including a win over GSC foe Delta State. Despite dropping its next contest, Lee has won the last two, heading into the road contest with C-N.

Lee comes into the match with momentum after succeeding in both singles and doubles against West Georgia, winning two of three, and all six singles matches.

With both Catawba and Lee playing well, C-N will have two tough tests this weekend starting at Catawba on Friday at 11 AM.
