ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior sprinter Kieran Showler-Davis has been named the Astroturf's Track Athlete of the Week by the South Atlantic Conference on Tuesday afternoon for his performance over the weekend at the Montreat College Invitational.

It marks the first-career athlete of the week award for the Winchester, England native. It's the first SAC honor for C-N during the 2018 outdoor season after the Eagles earned the praise four times during the indoor season.

"My best part of the race is the end, so coming off the indoor season where the 60 meters are a lot shorter, with outdoor I can get my legs open and execute my race," Showler-Davis stated.

Showler-Davis claimed a first-place time in the 100 meter dash at 10.34 seconds, marking the third-fastest time in all of Division II. The next closest sprinter came in from Cumberlands at 10.66 seconds.

He also notched runner-up in the 200 meter distance with a final time of 21.20 seconds which is seventh in D2 at this stage of the outdoor campaign.

"I was pretty excited after the 100 and was looking for more out of the 200," Showler-Davis added. "I think having a little bit of an injury back in December and having the chase the time in the 60 during indoors, I haven't been able to train the way I wanted to."

Showler-Davis was a second-team All-America honoree in the 60-meter dash for C-N after a new personal record in the event at 6.76 seconds placed the senior in 10th.
