CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The final event to cap off the 2018 outdoor season for Carson-Newman Track & Field presented the Eagles with an opportunity for a National Championship for the second time this year.
Kieran Showler-Davis came up shy of the mark needed but held his own with a fourth-place finish in the 100 Meter final at the Irwin Belk Complex. The 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships had one of the faster final-eight sprinters, and the senior from C-N posted a time of 10.36 seconds to earn First-Team All-American which was a step up from the indoor season when he collected second-team honors in the 60m.

Eastern New Mexico's Marcus Parker narrowly edged Showler-Davis with a time of 10.34 seconds for third-place. NaRon Rollins of Pittsburg State (10.22) and Mobolade Ajomale from Academy of Art (10.18) finished second and first respectively.
"I'm really happy," Showler-Davis noted. "All-American was the game and when I was here I wanted to get top-three and unfortunately I missed out on that I was a little bit annoyed when I first finished, I thought I had third. I'll take it, the time was pretty good and its a been a good year having performed at every championship I've been to."
Showler-Davis also collected the South Atlantic Conference title in the event last month.
"Coach Needs and Coach Stepp have been amazing," Showler-Davis added. "I couldn't have done it without them and their support on and off the track, they've been fantastic."
The England native will return back home in a few weeks and will continue the European season in July.
