CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A historic career at Carson-Newman came to an end at the Irwin Belk Complex during the 2018 NCAA Championships on Friday afternoon.

Tanner Stepp narrowly missed out on another All-America performance after he cleared 2.05 meters in the high jump. The next three jumps at 2.09m came up short, ending an illustrious career and placed the senior outside of the top-12.

"It's been kind of a rough outdoor season," Stepp mentioned. "Today just wasn't the day, it is what it is. I'm happy with the way everything turned out for my career at Carson-Newman as a whole."

The Jefferson City, Tenn. native earned a spot at nationals in every single semester as an Eagle, ending with a total of eight appearances. Stepp was nodded All-America six different times throughout his career at C-N, which included a National Championship following the 2018 indoor season after clearing a height of 2.17 meters which set a new school record.

Stepp marked the first champion in the history of Track & Field in the South Atlantic Conference. The 2.17m height was also the second-highest in SAC history for both indoor and outdoor events.

"It's been a great experience," Stepp added. "I've not made the podium, I've been first and second team, I've no-heighted, and I've won a National Championship and it's something I wouldn't change for anything."

Kieran Showler-Davis is set to run in the 100 meter final tomorrow afternoon which will begin approximately at 4:45 p.m.
