JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman head football coach Mike Turner has announced a set of summer camps for youth football players ranging from elementary school-aged children to high school players looking to prepare for a career collegiality.
The camps get under way June 4-5 with a youth camp for rishing 1st through 5th graders. The cost for that camp is 75 dollars.
A middle school camp for rising 6th through 8th graders will follow June 6-7. The camp is designed to help middle school players enhance their knowledge, position specific skill and safety techniques by teaching solid fundamentals in an encouraging environment. The cost for that camp is 75 dollars.
The Eagles' annual offensive line camp then follows June 9-12. The purpose of this game in to give both junior high school and senior high school athletes the experience of line fundamentals in a concentrated area. This offensive line camp will focus on the fundamentals of offensive line play. Campers will be divided into age and size groups to enable them to improve and learn at their own pace. Cost for day campers is 150 dollars. Overnight campers are 250 dollars.
Finally, Carson-Newman's summer camps wrap up July 13 with a one-day technique camp for rising 9th through 12th graders. This is a camp devoted to helping campers improve their techniques in the areas of throwing, blocking, tackling, catching, etc. Campers will participate in offensive positions as well as defensive positions. Cost of the camp is 35 dollars.
