
WILLIAMSBURG, KY. – The Carson-Newman Eagles won five singles matches and controlled the bottom of both the doubles and singles lineups to pick up a 7-2 win at the University of the Cumberlands on Thursday.
C-N improves to 7-6 overall with the win.
C-N's Dalton Moore and Garrett Duron combined for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles to give C-N a point advantage after doubles, but the Eagles wouldn't need the edge, controlling singles, 5-1.
Moore, playing for one his first times this season, picked up another point at No. 6 singles, winning 7-5, 6-0.
Junior Derek Holdway and Austin Mackay each had a hand in two C-N points. Holdway won, 6-0, 4-6, and 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Mackay, rolled 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. The two combined on a 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Warren McClure won for C-N at No. 2 singles in a tight match, grabbing a 6-4, 6-3 win, while Duron had the Eaglees final point, winning in a tiebreaker at No. 5 singles.
Carson-Newman returns to action on Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m.
