JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Men's Tennis returns to the court with a home contest against King (Tenn.) to end the month of February.
C-N is coming off a tough road loss to Lee in a 6-1 contest on Tuesday in Cleveland but looks to rebound with its second home contest of the season in a final tune-up before conference play begins next week.
The Eagles have gone 2-1 with wins against Young Harris and Union (Ky.), partially due to the strong play of Marnix Van Dalen (Netherlands) and Matthew Saunders (Ballyclare, NI, United Kingdom).
King, meanwhile, is 0-3 pending a match against Mars Hill on Thursday afternoon. The Tornado has lost to Tusculum, Davis & Elkins, and Lincoln Memorial, the closest of which was a 4-3 decision against D&E.
The Tornado are coming off a 2-15 season in 2024 in which they went 0-7 in Conference Carolinas action. However, Carson-Newman is just 1-5 against King since 2010 with the most recent meeting in 2020, a 6-1 win at the Catlett Tennis Complex.
King's lone point in its season opener came from the No. 5 singles flight from Caetano Luzzi.
The Tornado have not won a road contest since October 17, 2021, in a 4-3 win at Milligan.
First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Charles A. "Buddy" Catlett Tennis Complex in Jefferson City. As always, admission is free.
