JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Men's Tennis has just found ways to win in conference play as it kept the good times rolling with a sweep of Emory & Henry on Tuesday afternoon.

No. 48 Carson-Newman (7-3, 5-1 South Atlantic Conference) easily took the doubles point and three swift singles wins to hand Emory & Henry (1-11, 0-8 SAC) its eighth straight conference loss to open the season.

Of note was action on Court No. 3 where the competitor from Emory & Henry, Will Bayless, was pulled from his match with Carson-Newman's Louis Keenan by E&H head coach Jacob Marshall after verbal misconduct on the court. This led to another point for the Eagles, and a forfeiture win for Keenan.

"It's nice to get the sweep to be able to get off the courts earlier and get some rest," Carson-Newman Men's Tennis head coach Nathan Gangelhoff said. "We have to prepare for Wingate coming up, so it was a good day."

Leonard Baecker (Germany) has flipped a switch recently, dominating every opponent put in front of him for his fourth straight singles victory. He was already honored by the SAC as the Player of the Week, and earned Food City Player of the Match honors against the Wasps.

"In the beginning, I struggled a bit and didn't play that well," Baecker said. "But recently I found my rhythm. I've won four matches in a row, so now I'm really in (the zone)."

Only two singles matches were played to completion after the E&H forfeiture on Court No. 3.
