JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's basketball head coach Mike Mincey will get his first crack at career win number 250 when Carson-Newman (9-4, 3-2 SAC) welcomes Emory & Henry (7-7, 2-4 SAC) to Holt Fieldhouse for a South Atlantic Conference matchup tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m.

With a win 19-point win over Newberry on Saturday, Mincey brought his career win total to 249 games, one shy of tying Eddie Carter for most wins in program history. Mincey is one of just four coaches in SAC history to have won 200-plus games. C-N is the first and only program to have two coaches hit that mark.

The Lady Eagles will look to stay unbeaten at home tomorrow evening. C-N is 7-0 at home and has won five of those games but double-digits. It's the best home start for the Lady Eagles since the 2020-21 season, when C-N won all eight of its home regular season games that year.

The success at home is because of the efficient offensive output. C-N shoots nearly 46% at Holt and averages almost 80 points per game. It has achieved the 80-point mark in four of the seven home games.

On the defensive end, Carson-Newman only allowed one team to come to Mossy Creek and score 70 points or more and shoot above 40%, that team being Limestone back on Dec. 9, a game C-N won 96-72. The Lady Eagles are also forcing 21 turnovers per game and scoring 24 points off those mistakes at home as well.

In C-N's three SAC wins this season, they are averaging nearly 93 points per game and shooting 49% from the field.

The Lady Eagles lead the SAC in assists per game (17) and in assist to turnover ratio (1.09). Nine different players have led Carson-Newman in assists in a game this season, with Campbell Penland (Sevierville, Tenn.) having the most with six games.

Lindsey Taylor (Maryville, Tenn.) is coming off an incredible scoring week to begin 2024. The senior forward made 23 of her 29 shot attempts, scoring 55 points and grabbing 18 rebounds in the two games this past week. Taylor is now shooting a league-best 61% from the field. Already achieving 1,000 points for her career earlier this season, Taylor is just 37 points from scoring 1,000 in her Carson-Newman playing career.

E&H is still eyeing its first win over Carson-Newman. In three meetings, the Wasps have lost twice but 30 or more, with the closest matchup coming in the most recent matchup. On Feb 22, 2023, Carson-Newman held off the Wasps for a 72-64 victory. The Lady Eagles led by 15 heading into the fourth quarter. The Wasps made it interesting late, getting as close as four points but C-N did enough to hold on for the eight-point victory.

Picked last in the league's preseason poll, Emory & Henry began the season winning four of its first five games. When the calendar turned to December, the Wasps dropped four of five and finished the month of December with just a 2-4 record. They started 2024 with an 11-point home win over Tusculum and then just a four-point loss to #4 Catawba on Saturday.

The Wasps are led by SAC Player of the Week Breanna Yarber who averaged 30 points per game last week and set a school record by scoring 38 points against Tusculum on Jan 3rd. In a losing effort to Catawba, she finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. In 12 games this season, Yarber averages 18 points and six rebounds per game. Emma Santoro is E&H's other double-figure scorer, averaging 14 points per game on nearly 50% shooting.

Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Holt Fieldhouse. Broadcast coverage airs on Mountain Talk 106.3 FM and cneagles.com/live starting at 5:15 p.m. with "The AEC Countdown to Tip-Off" courtesy of the Eagle Sports Network. A live stream of the game is available with a subscription to FloSports.
