NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second week in a row, Carson-Newman's all-time leading scorer Braelyn Wykle was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week after a remarkable shooting week, as announced earlier today.

Wykle's second consecutive weekly honor is the sixth time she has won the TSWA weekly award. C-N's last five TSWA honors have all gone to Wykle.

The graduate student earns the honor after putting together one of the best performances in program history on Saturday. Wykle scored a career-high 45 points and reset the single-game record for three-pointers with 13. The incredible performance also gave the guard the single-season record for three-pointers made with now 93 this season. Wykle made 15 of her 26 shots in the 45-point effort and made 13 of her 23 triples.

A lot of her scoring damage came in the third quarter. She scored 23 points in the period and made seven of her nine triples. At one point, Wykle scored 15 straight points for C-N. She now has 57 career games with at least three, three-pointers and 69 games with 20 or more.

This season, Wykle has scored double figures in 25 of C-N's 28 games and has 13 20-point nights. She is averaging 19.6 points per game this season and is doing so on efficient 45/41/87 splits, all of which are right at her career averages. Wykle has led C-N in scoring on 13 different occasions and has 15 games with at least 3 three-pointers.

Wykle continues to climb the all-time NCAA DII women's basketball scoring list. Her 2,679 career points rank sixth all-time and second in SAC history. She is 85 points away from moving into the top five all-time. Wykle has 356 career three-pointers, tenth-most in DII history and second-most in SAC history.

Among all active DII players, Wykle has the most career points, three-pointers and field goals made. Across all three levels, she ranks fifth among active players in career points.

Wykle leads C-N in the SAC Quarterfinals tomorrow afternoon against Anderson. Tipoff between the Lady Eagles and Trojans is slated for 2:30 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 2:15 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mountain Talk 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
