Lady Eagles take fourth at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Carson-Newman's Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) finished sixth and Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) took 10th as the Lady Eagles finished fourth at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at the Sea Trail Golf Links.

The Lady Eagles finished 13 strokes behind tournament champions University of North Carolina Pembroke, who won with a two-day 618 (+42). Tusculum (621) finished second and No. 6 Tarleton State took third (623).

C-N finished the tournament with a team-total of 631.

Tunnell fired a 78 in her final round for a two-day 154 (+10) to tie for sixth. Ray fired a 79 on Tuesday to finish at 157.

Sophomore Louise McGillivray (Banchory, Scotland) finished with an 82 on Tuesday to close the tournament in 20th at 161 (+17).

Sophomore Lauren Hodge fired matching 81s to close at 162 (+18), good for 24th, while senior Jennifer Oliver followed her opening round 78 with an 87 in Tuesday's final round to slip to 32nd.

Carson-Newman fnished 4th in a 21-team field that included SAC foes Newberry (644, 5th), Lincoln Memorial (645, 6th), Anderson (664, 9th), Wingate (667, 10th), Lenoir-Rhyne (675, 12th), and Catawba (695, 15th).

Carson-Newman returns to action at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational played at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, N.C. on Oct. 17-18.
