JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (27-9, 12-6 South Atlantic Conference) will tip its cap to a trio of seniors playing in their final scheduled games at the Vickee Kazee-Hollifield Softball Complex Saturday at 1 p.m. against Emory & Henry.
The Eagles will pay homage to Carmen Holt (Lawrenceburg, Ky.), Madison Levi (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Addison Lowe (Sweetwater, Tenn.) in a ceremony prior to game one.
Holt has etched her name in the Carson-Newman record books with the second highest fielding percentage of any infielder outside of first basemen in school history. An all-conference selection as a junior, she is hitting a lifetime-best .337 in her final season with the Eagles. Holt has 18 career multi-hit efforts and 10 multi-RBI games. In her 200th career at-bat, she launched her first career home run against UVA Wise on March 16.
Levi has appeared in 21 games through her C-N career, with two starts. In her first career at-bat against King, she hit a triple. Half of Levi's career hits are for extra bases. She scored two runs for the first time in her career against Catawba on March 19, 2022.
Lowe has appeared in 10 games through her Carson-Newman career and has hit .286 lifetime with C-N. She has been responsible for producing runs against Miles, Catawba and Mars Hill. She set her career high for runs scored on March 21, 2021 against Bluefield State when she crossed home plate twice. She also pitched her freshman season, striking out two in two shutout innings against the Big Blues.
The Eagles' .354 batting average is the top mark in the South Atlantic Conference and ninth-best total in the country. Carson-Newman has kept its batting average north of .350 since March 16. It sat at .322 at the end of February before the Eagles hit .392 as a team for the month of March. Carson-Newman has hit north of .350 in two seasons in school history (1996 - .396; 2022 - .357).
SieAnna Cameron leads the South Atlantic Conference and ranks fifth nationally with a .504 batting average. After her average dipped to .484, she went 6-for-9 at the plate against Tusculum to nudge it back over .500. The last time Cameron's averaged dropped below .500, she proceeded to rattle off four straight games with multi hits, going 12-of-15 at the plate to send that average back to .530. Only Sammi Hatcher (.524 in 1992) has hit better than .500 for a season in C-N softball history.
Macey Hughes sits in ninth place in Carson-Newman history for career home runs with 22 - tied with Elayna Siebert (2013-16). Next up on the all-time list is Mandy Stevens, who had 24 from 2005-08.
Freshman Macauley Bailey is the second in the country in runs batted in. The Cross Plains, Tenn.-native has 56. She has driven in a run in 16 of her last 18 games and has 16 games this year where she has driven in multiple runs. The single-season SAC and school record for RBI in a season is 75, held by Carson-Newman's Brittany Hefner (2013). Bailey leads the country in RBI per game with 1.56. Bailey's 56 RBI this season sit in seventh in school history. Four more and she matches Sara Kelley (2014) for sixth all-time.
Bailey is riding a 18-game hitting streak. That's tied for the fourth-longest hitting streak in school history. Bailey is level with Abby Fiessinger has the fourth longest. Fiessinger hit successfully in 18 straight games to start her career in 2017. They are tied for the longest hitting streak by a freshman. Kelli Hensley sits in third with a 19 game hitting streak in 2014. Angel Bales (25 between 1996-97) and Sammi Hatcher (33 in 1992) sit atop the chart.
Macey Hughes has driven in eight runs this week to move into the top 10 for a career with 130. Eighth on the all-time list seems within striking distance for Hughes. Rebecca Eldredge (1998-2001) sits in ninth with 133, while Mary Shealey (2009-12) is in eighth with 138.
