PITTSBURG, Kan. – A pair of Carson-Newman sprinters grabbed Second-Team All-America honors on Friday following their performances in the 60-meter dash prelims at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.

Kieran Showler-Davis and Devon Moore finished 10th and 11th place respectively as both Eagles turned in personal bests on the afternoon.

The top eight sprinters in the event earn first-team honors and move on to the finals slated for tomorrow afternoon while nine through 12 are etched on second-team.

Showler-Davis (Winchester, England) turned in a PR at 6.76 seconds topping a previous low time of 6.79 seconds which came on Feb. 19 in the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Moore (Baxley, Ga.) finished in 11th-place recording a time of 6.77 seconds marking a previous low time after edging the SAC Indoor Championships time which the freshman turned in at 6.78.

Moore also competed in the 200-meter dash later in the day. After getting out in front of the pack of runners, Moore tweaked a hamstring and was unable to finish the race.

"I am excited for both of them," Coach David Needs stated. "They ran extremely well, faster than they had all season against an extremely fast field. Improving their position from where they were entered. We added two All-Americans to the wall. Both of them should be very proud of their efforts."

Kevin Snead was C-N's last indoor All-American after capping off the 2017 season with an 11th-place finish at 6.81 seconds.

Tanner Stepp will be the lone Eagle to compete on day two of the championships as he looks for a top-finish in the high jump. The event is set to take place at 3:00 p.m.
