Meet Schedule

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Track & Field program will trek to Charlotte, N.C., the site of the 2018 National Championships, for the Johnson C. Smith Invitational this weekend at the Irwin Belk Complex.

The meet marks the second of the outdoor campaign for the Eagles after competing in the Montreat College Invitational last weekend in which the Eagles notched some school records, personal records and an athlete of the week honor from the South Atlantic Conference.

Five Eagles earned first-place honors in the lone day of competition for C-N. 

"With the success we built from last week we can now see who is ready and able to move forward this weekend against some nationally-ranked programs," Coach David Needs stated. "It's a great chance to see where you stand and it's the time of the season to start perfecting some things.

"It also gives us a chance to build some familiarity with the site since it's the site for conference championships and the NCAA's. Getting exposure on the track will be tremendous for our athletes."

Saint Augustine's will be in attendance with their men's team ranking 6th-nationally and the women just outside the top-ten at No. 12 in the latest USTFCCCA rankings. 

Due to anticipated poor weather in the area on Saturday, the meet schedule has been altered with the majority of the events beginning Friday.

"The weather shifted our focus a little bit," Needs added. "Instead of some kids competing in two or three events they might have a chance at just one."
