NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For a second consecutive week, Carson-Newman men's basketball has had a player picked as the Tennessee Sportswriters' Association State Player of the Week.
Tripp Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) brings home the accolade one week following Ren Dyer (Weaverville, N.C.).
Davis helped guide Carson-Newman to a 2-0 record last week with a 70-59 non-conference win over Bluefield State and a 76-64 league triumph over Wingate. Davis averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds between the two wins.
He even threw down his first career dunk against the Bulldogs.

The Nashville, Tenn., native collected a pair of 3-pointers and made 6-for-8 free throws for 14 points to go with six boards against Bluefield State. The senior netted 23 points on 7-of-13 from the field and 8-for-9 at the foul line versus Wingate, adding six rebounds.
The 23-point night against the Bulldogs goes down as a season high and Davis' seventh career 20-point effort for Carson-Newman. He also matched a career high with four steals in the first half against Wingate.
He was 10-for-21 from the field on the week.
Davis and Dyer are Carson-Newman's first back-to-back Player of the Week selections since Charles Clark and Shaun Jones won back-to-back SAC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 9 and 16, 2018.
Davis and the rest of the Eagles will be in action Wednesday at LMU. Tipoff from Harrogate is set for 8 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network starts at 7:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on The Mountain 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
