Eagles Seventh, Hay Second After First Two Rounds of Laker Collegiate Invitational

HAMPTON, Ga. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team is in seventh place after completing two rounds at the Laker Collegiate Invitational on Monday at Crystal Lake Golf Course in Hampton, Ga.

The Eagles shot a two-round total of 595 (299-296, +19). Columbus State is atop the leaderboard after firing a 570 (285-285, -6), while North Alabama is four shots back with a 574 (288-286, -2). Newberry and Armstrong Atlantic are in a tie for third after turning in a two-round total of even-par 576.

C-N sophomore Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) is in a three-way tie for second at 5-under after firing rounds of 67 and 72. Hay is tied with Lander's Roberto Nasalli-Roca and Armstrong Atlantic's Matt Motes.

Hay is just one stroke behind North Alabama's Jake Greer for the tournament lead. Greer shot 138 (67-71, -6) to take the lead.

Junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) is just outside the top 10 in 11th place as he finished the day with a two-round total of 142 (72-70,-2). Freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss is in a tie for 40th place with a total of 153 (+9), while John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) and Alex Coughlin shot 161 (+17) and 163 (+19), respectively.

The Eagles will complete the final round of the Laker Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.
