Eagles finish 13th at Golfweek Spring Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Carson-Newman men's golf team shot a final-round 295 (+7) to finish the Golfweek Spring Invitational in 13th place on Tuesday at the Reunion Resort Legacy Course.

The Eagles finished with a three-day total of 893 (+29). Barton College and Lynn University finished tied atop the leaderboard with a score of 857 (-7).

Sophomore Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) moved up four spots after firing a 2-under par 70 to tie for 11th place. Hay, who had five birdies, a bogey and a double bogey in his final round, had a three-day total of even-par 216.

Junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) finished in a tie for 20th after shooting a 3-over par 75 on Tuesday. Michael Horenkamp (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) turned in his best round of the tournament with a 1-over par 73, finishing in a tie for 50th, while John Minor, Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) and Jordan Patrick (Abingdon, Va.) shot 77 and 79, respectively.

Abiline Christian's Alex Carpenter fired a 7-under par 65 to claim medalist honors. Carpenter had a three-day total of 203 (-13).

The Eagles return to action on March 21-22 in the Bobcat Invitational in Eatonton, Ga.
