ANDERSON, SC – Carson-Newman (12-4, 8-3 SAC) defeated Anderson (10-5-3, 4-5-2 SAC) 3-2 in overtime ending regular season third in the conference.

"We have been doing this a lot of late," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said, "winning in the most dramatic fashion."

Paul von Hinueber scored off a cross from Bernd Muxel in the 11^th minute to take the lead for the Trojans.

With ten minutes left in first half, Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) was fouled in the box. The Eagles were awarded a penalty kick on which Ross Frame (Welshpool, Powys, United Kingdom) capitalized to even the score.

Andre Carle again took the lead for Anderson ten minutes into second half for his 11^th goal of the season. Aaron Roberson countered on a corner kick and distributed the ball to Carle for the finish.

"We conceded two goals," Moodie said. "That's the most we've conceded in a while."

In the 89^th minute of action, Frame scored his 15^th goal of the year off a long ball from keeper and senior captain Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, France) to tie the game at twos and send it into overtime.

With a minute left in the first overtime, Matheus Bachi (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) got on the end of a deflected shot taken by Welo. He put the ball in the back of the net for the golden goal win.

"The boys have to be ecstatic with what we've done so far this season," Moodie said. "They knew we had to win it today, and they did. They knew we were playing for something even though we didn't win the conference."

C-N outshot the Trojans 22 to 13. Frame and Kristian Speake (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom) each released five shots and landed two on target. Nico Noll (Esens, Niedersachsen, Germany) and Welo each took two shots, both of which were on net.

Le Guevel had four saves on the match. He holds second place in the conference with 73 saves and third with a save percentage of .793.

Frame reclaimed the top spot in the SAC with 15 goals. He also leads in points with 39, and assists with nine. He is third in shots with 67.

Welo moved up to fourth in the conference with six assists. Jake Fielder (Talbott, Tenn.) is tied for fifth with five.

"We have to be happy with the result," Moodie said. "The boys refuse to lose."

The Eagles look to host their first round match of the conference tournament Tuesday. Both time and opponent are to be announced.
