Parker Announces Fall Schedule

Jon Parker Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- First-year men's and women's tennis coach Jon Parker announced the programs' fall schedule, returning to three events the Eagles competed in last season.

This fall, the men's and women's programs will compete in four invitationals.

"I'm expecting to get to know the players a little bit this season," Coach Parker said. "Hopefully, we're going to have some fun this year."

The Eagles travel to Harrogate, Tennessee, on Sept. 15th and 16th to compete in the Lincoln Memorial Invitational, the same spot C-N opened last season.

C-N then takes a trip to Sumter, South Carolina, to compete in the ITA Championships on Sept. 22nd-25th. The Eagles had a couple of solid individual performances in last year's ITA Regionals, including a top consolation finish from Marnix Van Dalen.

The following week, Sept. 28th-30th, the Eagles will compete in the Belmont Abbey Invitational in Belmont, North Carolina.

The Eagles wrap up the fall season at home in the Eagle Invitational on Oct. 13th and 14th, where C-N thrived just a year ago, defeating both University of Cumberlands and Tusculum.

With plenty of newcomers, including himself, to the Eagles' teams, Parker is excited to use the fall to figure out things moving into the spring season.

"Hopefully, by the end of the fall season, we won't have to tinker around with our lineups," Parker said. "We'll be well-prepared for the spring as long as our lineups are concerned."

The Eagles' rosters include five returners on the men's side, highlighted by Marnix Van Dalen, who earned a 12-7 record in singles matches in the previous spring season, including a 12-5 doubles record. The women return five players: Anita Chornei, Natasha Forrest, Maria Ulloa, Summer Reeves, and Julia Speiser, all of whom were contributors last season.

Each event throughout the fall season will be followed up with a recap and results on cneagles.com.
