Eagles Wrap Up Fall Season in Dominant Fashion at Eagle Invitational

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman men's tennis team wrapped up the fall season in a dominant fashion, taking two of three doubles matches against Tusculum and all six singles against Bluefield State.

In singles play against Bluefield State, all six Eagles secured singles victories. Yehor Opanasenko and Lars Hordijk took each set comfortably, while Gjorgji Jankulovski, Paul Gayk, Marc Janse, and Marnix Van Dalen earned hard-fought victories.

RESULTS:

Marnix Van Dalen (C-N) def. Teddy Razafin (BSU), 6-3/6-3

Marc Janse (C-N) def. Luis Aguilo (BSU), 6-3/6-4

Gjorgji Jankulovski (C-N) def. Jose Marquez (BSU), 6-4/7-6

Paul Gayk (C-N) def. Mateo Aldaz (BSU), 6-1/6-3

Lars Hordijk (C-N) def. Pablo Perez (BSU), 6-1/6-1

Yehor Opanasenko (C-N) def. Merlin Mazalto (BSU), 6-1/6-1

In doubles, the Eagles squared off with in-state rival Tusculum and competed in three closely contested matches. C-N took two of three matchups, continuing an impressive showing at home.

RESULTS:

Van Dalen/Hordijk (C-N) def. Krondell/Verhaar (TU), 8-5

Subanovic/Ray (TU) def. Janse/Jankulovski (C-N), 8-6

Gayk/Opanasenko (C-N) def. Sharma/Ivars (TU), 8-6

After a dominant finish to the fall season, the Eagles will look to build on the success in the fall and take it into the spring season.
