Cat Lind named to AVCA 30 Under 30 Beach award list

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Carson-Newman beach volleyball head coach Cat Lind was named to the inaugural AVCA 30 Under 30 Beach Award list on Monday, Apr. 26.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association list was compiled from nominees from the media, other coaches and fans. Nominees must've been born in 1990 or later and be a member of the AVCA to be eligible.

"Receiving this award is an honor," says Cat Lind. "It is humbling to look back and see all of the individuals that God has placed in my life to get me to this point. This recognition is not just for me but for all those who have helped me grow and become the person I am today."

In her first season as head beach volleyball coach, Lind has helped lead the Eagles to their second-most wins in program history, including an undefeated record at home for the first time since 2016. The Eagles also earned a win over Division-I Chattanooga and their first ever win over Tusculum this season.

Under Lind's guidance, the pair of Abby Struewing and Sierra Still have excelled this season. The pair have compiled a 9-4 record together at the no. two position.

Individually, Struewing became the first Carson-Newman beach volleyball player to win 20 matches. The senior currently holds the program record with 21 wins.

Meanwhile, Still has been spectacular in her freshman season. The diaper dandy from Julian, N.C. has compiled an 11-4 record this season, and already sits tied for third for most individual wins in a single season.

Lind and the Eagles will wrap up the season on Apr. 30 with the SAC Beach Challenge in Salisbury, N.C. The two-day event will be a round robin schedule between the four current South Atlantic Conference beach volleyball teams, beginning with a match for Carson-Newman against Catawba on Apr. 30 at 5:30 PM.
