Eagles land second in pool, advance to silver bracket

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman concluded their second day at the AVCA Small Beach Championship 1-1, with a 2-2 overall tournament record before they take on bracket play on Sunday morning. 

The Eagles began their day with a 3-0 sweep over McKendree University but found themselves losing to Concordia University Irvine in the same manor later in the day. 

The first match of the morning was the final round of pool play and the second was a challenge round to decide whether the Eagles would move on to the silver or gold bracket. 

Their 9:05 match against McKendree concluded pool play and placed C-N second in the pool. All pairs were won in straight sets, with scores of no more than 21-16. 

Their loss to Irvine advanced C-N to the silver bracket for single elimination bracket play, beginning on Sunday morning.
