Brevard, N.C. - The Tornados swept all three doubles matches as Brevard College beat visiting Carson-Newman College at the McCoy Tennis Complex, 8-1.
The Sunday afternoon victory improves Brevard to 12-5, 5-0 in the SAC, while Carson-Newman falls to 4-7, 0-5 in conference play.
C-N's Stephanie Goode prevented a Tornados' sweep winning at No. 5 singles over BC's Jennifer Nyman 6-4, 7-5 for C-N's lone point.
Lindsay Shaeffer and Lindsay Hostetter put the Tornados up 1-0 early, defeating Kylie Elliot and Taryn Cappadona on court no. 1, 8-1 to begin doubles play. Dillman and Michelle Prata teamed up to down Stefy Stand and Stephanie Goode in the second flight, 8-1, while Elise Labus and Jennifer Nyman completed the sweep with their 8-3 victory over Katie Brown and Megan Wilson.
Labus was the first off the court in singles play, defeating Wilson on court no. 6 in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-0. Dillman followed with her 6-3, 6-0 win on court no. 3 over Stand to clinch the match victory for the Tornados, while Prata put the Tornados up 6-0 with her 6-1, 6-3 win on court no. 4.
Shaeffer and Hostetter also won in straight sets on courts no. 1 and 2, with Hostetter coming off the court first with her 6-4, 6-3 victory over Cappadona. Shaeffer followed with a tough victory over Elliot, 7-6, 6-3 to give the Tornados the 8-0 lead.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against Lincoln Memorial University in Jefferson City.
