KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time in dual match play this season, Carson-Newman women's tennis swept its opponent against Milligan on Saturday at the Knoxville Racquet Club.

C-N's first sweep of the season came as a technicality – a forfeiture win over Martin Methodist to open the season – but play indoors in Knoxville Saturday was decisive. The Buffaloes were only able to muster seven game victories across all six singles matches, respectively. The win puts the Eagles at 2-1 on the season.

No. 1 singles Ana-Carla Resende (Minas Gerais, Brazil) breezed past Minda Martin of Milligan by a 6-0, 6-0 final. Senior Alisa Liashova also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 singles slot.

Mixing up the doubles pairing, C-N found success with Resende and Klara Vuckovic (Germany) at No. 1 doubles with the duo earning a 6-1 victory. No. 2 doubles saw junior Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) paired with freshman Tash Forrest (United Kingdom) in a 6-0 triumph. The third and final pairing saw both Ukrainian members of the roster in Liashova and freshman Anita Chornei join forces, playing to a 6-1 final in favor of the Eagles.

Price (6-0, 6-1), Chornei (6-1, 6-0) and Forrest (6-1, 6-2) all hit on the right points to find success in singles. All six matches ended in straight sets.

Milligan moves to 2-2 on the campaign with the defeat.

C-N is back in action Sunday when the team returns to the Knoxville Racquet Club to face King at 10 a.m.
