JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's tennis saw action from the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex Tuesday but could not maintain home court advantage. The Eagles (6-3, 2-1 SAC) suffered their first conference loss of the spring season after losing to Anderson (3-2, 2-2 SAC) by a team score of 5-2.

The Trojans started the day off with three consecutive doubles victories to grasp the early 1-0 lead and never looked back. Two out of the three doubles results fell by a score of 6-4 while the third was almost as close with a score of 6-3, all in favor of Anderson.

Senior Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA) and junior Ana Carla Resende (Minas Gerais, Brazil) were slated as the number one doubles team for C-N and saw their first defeat in five matches after securing wins over Limestone, Coker, North Georgia, and Young Harris.

As singles action began, it was split between odd and even action. The numbers two, four, and six for the Eagles started off in action as no Eagle could grasp victory but freshman Violetta Khisamova (Yaroslavl, Russia) pushed her opponent to the limit. She and her opponent, Greer, started off going back-and-forth before Greer natched the first set 6-2. In the second set, both girls were tired and running on fumes toward the end of the match, but Greer found just enough gas to push herself over the line and gain the deciding set 7-5.

Then, after the first three matches concluded, it was time for numbers one, three, and five to take the court. This is where C-N gained some momentum but could not use it to come back all the way. Resende was able to gain the second Eagles point on the day as she claimed yet another victory at number one singles. With her 6-1, 6-1 result, Resende moves to 25-7 all-time as an Eagle while playing number one.

Her teammate, senior Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) leads the team in singles victories this year as she moves to 8-1 at number three singles. Tuesday was no different as she got the win 6-1, 6-3 to help gain another Eagles point. Shortly after, sophomore Natasha Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom) was wrapping up as her match concluded with a 8-3 decision in the first set falling to Anderson.

The Eagles return to the courts this Saturday as they travel to Nashville for an exhibition against the Belmont Bruins. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
