Eagles set to resume play this weekend, host Patriots and Lions.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman men's tennis team will again attempt to take the courts as they host the University of the Cumberlands and Mars Hill this weekend at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.

The University of the Cumberlands (1-2) will travel to Jefferson City on Friday at 3 p.m. looking to pick up their second win of the season. The Patriots play in the NAIA powerhouse Mid South conference, which boasted three teams in the preseason top-25 national polls.

Carson-Newman (0-2) will then head into South Atlantic Conference play Saturday as its welcomes the Mars Hill Lions (4-4) for a 1 p.m. matchup. Preseason All-SAC singles player Euquerio Guerrero highlights this Lions club after compiling an 8-3 record in the 2014 season. Mars Hill was picked fifth in the SAC prior to the season.

Due to inclement weather, the Eagles have been held out of play for over two weeks, as they have had to cancel or postpone their last three contests. When asked about finally playing again, coach Jean Love simply said, "We are really looking forward to playing."
