Junior Marc Janse (Zeewolde, Netherlands) was able to bypass the opening round of 128 because he was the 16th-seeded player in the tournament. After completion of the round of 128, Janse found his opponent to be Kornel Kimaszweski in the round of 64.

When the two faced off, it was Janse advancing to the round of 32 after winning 6-0, 6-1. He will now face Nikita Tayyanin in the round of 32 on Saturday morning with first serve at 11:30 a.m. from Sumter.

Freshman Gjorgji Jankulovski (Macedonia) was also able to bypass the opening round of 132 as he was seeded as the other 16th-seeded player in the tournament. His opponent for the round of 64 would be Peter Lemken.

Lemken was a tough matchup for Jankulovski, but the C-N freshman continued his impressive start to the fall as he advanced to the round of 32 with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 result in his favor. Jankulovski will now face 9th-seeded Javier Cueto Ramos in the next round with first serve at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, it was the 5th-seeded Bottino who pushed ahead as he defeated van Dalen 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the round of 32. Van Dalen will now see action in the consolation bracket against Marcel Schomburg at 12:30 Saturday afternoon.

Once action started, it was Hordijk pulling the first upset for C-N in the tournament, as the South Holland native came away with the 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 victory and a spot in the round of 32.

Hordijk will face another formidable opponent, Luka Brown, in the round of 32. Brown is coming off two straight victories to start the tournament, including upsetting 2nd-seeded Christian Garay in the round of 64. Brown and Hordijk will face off at 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
