Marosites duo and Griffin named to All-Tournament team

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Despite the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Women's Basketball Championships, 25 seniors were named to the Southeast Region's All-Tournament team Friday featuring Carson-Newman players Kayla Marosites, Kelci Marosites and Tori Griffin.

Over the last three seasons, the class has guided the team to two NCAA Tournaments and a 76-19 record and a 50-12 mark in conference games. Griffin is the first four-year senior to win 20 games in each of her four seasons in 30 years. The trio were key members in the program's first region title helping the Lady Eagles reach the Elite Eight in 2018.

Kayla Marosites finished her career starting all 95 games that the program played since her arrival on campus. This honor is the 25th of a career that features three All-SAC selections, two all-region nods and an Academic All-American tally. The program's record holder for career double-doubles, 58, and rebounding average, 11.3, is seventh on the scoring list with 1,387, second in rebounds with 1,072 and fifth in triples at 157.

Kelci Marosites appeared in 93 contests racking up 540 points, 288 rebounds burying 106 three-pointers, a number that ranks 10th in the history of the program.

Griffin played in 121 games over four seasons at Mossy Creek producing 684 points, 251 rebounds and knocking down 102 three-pointers, just shy of the school's top 10 list.
