CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Former Carson-Newman men's golfer and current Berry College assistant coach Will Hurt was tabbed the 2019-20 Golf Pride Grips WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year at the Division III level, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

In his first year with the Vikings, Hurt helped lead the Vikings to five top-10 finishes in 2019-20. The team finished the shortened season ranked No. 24 on Golfstat after a fifth-place finish at the Savannah Invitational.

Hurt graduated from Carson-Newman in 2019. In his four years with the team, the Powell, Tenn. native averaged an 80.4 scoring average, boosted by a 78.3 clip in the 2017-18 season when the Eagles won a second-straight South Atlantic Conference title. His career saw C-N compete at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional in all four seasons.

Hurt joined the Vikings as their graduate assistant coach in July 2019, working with both the men's and women's golf programs.
