JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Due to the threat of inclement weather Sunday, Carson-Newman softball's doubleheader with Lees-McRae has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.
That moves Carson-Newman's opening contest up a day; it had initially been set for Friday at Fort Valley State.
The Eagles took a pair of run-rule games from the Bobcats last season 12-2 and 8-0 at home. In game one of that series, Brittany Hefner (Talbott, Tenn.) matched the single-game school record for RBI with eight. She came a single short of the cycle in that contest.
Carson-Newman hasn't lost an opening day game since 2011 when it fell on the road to Bellarmine 2-0. Carson-Newman hasn't lost a home opener in a decade.
