ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman outfielder Kelli Hensley (Knoxville, Tenn.) and pitcher Kalyn Davis (Danville, Ky.) took home South Atlantic Conference player and pitcher of the week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hensley collected a four-hit day against Belmont Abbey in a sweep for the Eagles. She produced an inside-the-park home run in game two of that series.
The sophomore is second in the SAC in hits with 14 and she leads the league in runs scored with 11.
Davis fanned a pair as she picked up a complete game shutout. Davis began her sophomore season with 16 consecutive innings of shutout ball. She scattered four hits in the Eagles win over Belmont Abbey.
The Eagles take on Limestone Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Vickee Kazee-Hollifield will be angling for her 1,000th career victory, the Eagles need to sweep the Saints for her to get it. Coverage of the doubleheader will be available on the Eagle Sports Network on cneagles.com/live.
