Male Performance of the Year

Jake Mynatt (MGOLF at Citrus): The Graduate student had the best day of his C-N career. He went 4-under over his final twelve holes in the opening round, with five birdies and two bogeys, to lead the Eagles with a 3-under 69. He was just getting started. After making par on four of his five holes to start the second round, he caught fire. The graduate student made birdie on seven of his next eight holes to card a career-best 6-under 66. He continued his stellar tournament shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round. He started his day with an opening nine at 2-under par. Mynatt proceeded to make two birdies, and one bogey on the back nine to finish the tournament at 12-under par. It's the lowest tournament score by a C-N golfer this fall season. He finished the event in second place

Nic Carsh (MSOC vs Spring Hill): The senior forward scored two goals in Carson-Newman's 5-3 win over Spring Hill. Both of Carsh's goals came in the first half, in an eight-minute stretch. He helped tie the match in the 27th minute, as teammate Willem Kruijk sent a cross into the box where Carsh was able to slot the ball into the lower left corner of goal. Less than eight minutes later, he sneaked behind the Spring Hill defense and dribbled around the Badgers goalkeeper and sent home C-N's third goal of the opening half.

Darin De Meza (MSOC at LR): De Meza had a career night in C-N's 1-1 draw with Lenoir-Rhyne. The senior recorded a season and career high eight saves. It wasn't until the 84th minute that LR was able to tie the match. Six of his eight saves came in the second half.

Braxton Westfield (Football at Catawba): Westfield became the only player in Carson-Newman football history with three consecutive 100-yard receiving days when he snared five passes for 162 yards in the Eagles' 61-23 win at Catawba in the regular season finale.  The senior tied the single-game C-N record with three receiving touchdowns in the contest. All three of his touchdown grabs came in a 27-point third quarter and 40-point second half for C-N. They covered 33, 61 and 37 yards.  His three-score day gives him 21 for his career to match him for fourth all-time with Tank Black. All told, Westfield snagged five passes for 162 yards and the three scores. The 162 yards are the 11th-highest single-game total in Carson-Newman history. He closes his C-N career with three straight 100-yard games.

Trayzel Jureidini-Wyche (Football v. Erskine): Jureidini-Wyche blocked two Erskine punts en route to helping the Eagles throttle the Flying Fleet 37-0 Saturday night. Jureidini-Wyche and Long are the only two players in school history to both block two kicks in a single game in school history.  Long did he feat in a homecoming win over Newberry

Major Williams (Football at Catawba): Williams became the first player in Carson-Newman history with more than 100 yards of punt returns in a single game. He brought two punts back for 111 yards.  Williams returned one punt 86 yards for a score, the first punt return for a touchdown for Carson-Newman since Desmond Fairell brought one back against Virginia-Lynchburg in 2018. The 86-yarder is the fourth-longest punt return in SAC and Carson-Newman history.  Williams has three of the seven-highest single-game punt return totals in the last three weeks for the C-N football program. Defensively, he added in seven tackles and a pass break up.

Ivan Corbin (Football v. UVA Wise) : Corbin passed for two touchdowns and ran for two others in a 38-22 win for the Eagles against UVA-Wise. The Warner Robins, Ga.-native scored on runs of one and 12 yards and tossed TD passes from 27 and 31 yards. The 27-yard strike to Luke Simpson gave Carson-Newman a 31-0 lead.  His 31-yard pitch and catch to Travaunta Abner more or less sealed the win for the Eagles in the third quarter. Corbin finished the game 13-of-23 passing for 251 yards, the first Eagles quarterback to throw for more than 200 yards in consecutive games since 2016, and rushed 16 times for 57 yards (not including sacks/negative plays).

Frank Lee (Football v. Erskine): The Orangeburg, S.C.-native tallied five tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He also notched a pass break up.  The 4.5 tackles for loss are the seventh-most in a single game in school history. The individual effort was a part of a team effort that saw Carson-Newman collect its first shutout since 2016 and its first home shutout since 2006.  The Eagles limited Erskine to 214 yards of total offense and seven three-and-outs.  Of Erskine's 14 possessions, 12 were for five plays or fewer.

Alonzo Houston (Football v. Newberry): Houston's line was nearly identical in the Eagles' win over seventh-ranked Newberry.  He had 10 tackles, a half tackle for loss, a pick, a break up and a quarterback hurry.  The 10-tackle performance was the eighth such double-digit tackle performance of his career and the first of his senior season. The pick was also the second of his career, and the first since he earned player of the week honors his freshman season.

Bryant Thomas (Men's Basketball v. Mars Hill): Thomas put up player of the week numbers.  He was 11-of-17 from the field for 27 points, one off his career high, and added in 11 boards for his ninth career double-double.  He matched his own school record for the fourth time in his career with a six-block day.  He also added in three steals. Thomas was especially effective after halftime when he had 17 of his points, four of his blocks and all three of his steals.

Caleb Bridgewater (Men's Basketball v. Tennessee Wesleyan: Bridgewater more than doubled his previous career high, which he matched on Saturday against Emory & Henry when he scored 14. The junior erupted for 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. He was 8-of-12 from deep. The eight made threes are tied for the fifth-most in a game in program history.  Bridgewater led C-N in scoring for the second time in his career and also had seven boards to boot.  The eight threes are the most in a game since Malik Abraham drilled nine in-a-row at Anderson in 2019.
